HTC has teamed up with supermodel Jourdan Dunn and tattoo
artist Cally-Jo to launch a limited-edition version of the One M9. The
smartphone, called the HTC One M9 INK, draws its inspiration from body
art.
Compared to the regular version of the HTC One M9,
the INK adds an engraving on the back that looks very much like a
tattoo. The engraving actually consists out of two symbols, and eye, and
a hand. According to HTC, the eye represents strength and sincerity,
while the hand stands for protection and positivity.
Apparently,
British tattoo artist Cally-Jo did the work of actually designing the
handset, while Jourdan Dunn (named global HTC INK ambassador by the
manufacturer) is tasked with promoting the new HTC One M9 model.
As
the One M9 is not selling nearly as well as the company wanted it to,
HTC seems to have resorted to launching special edition handsets in
order to draw more interest to the smartphone. A few weeks ago, HTC
launched a 24-karat gold UEFA Champions League version of the One M9.
At
the moment, HTC has yet to announce pricing and launch information for
the limited-edition HTC One M9 INK. Since the new M9 version doesn't
come with more expensive build materials, chances are that it won't be
priced too high compared to the regular version, but this remains
wishful thinking in the lack of any concrete evidence.
